The mission of Genesis is to Know Christ and Make Him Known as we CARE for our COMMUNITY, CITY & WORLD!
What do we mean by Community? Community starts with those you do life with… your friends, your family, & your church family - your inner circle.
What do we mean by City? - This means we take the love of Jesus to the area in which we live. Ask yourself, “How do I share Christ with those I work with, see at school, and with those I don’t even know yet who live in the Greater Tallahassee Area?”
What do we mean by World? Caring for the world is when we reach past our life’s city limits - past our typical surroundings and we bring the love of Christ to others in our state, our nation, and even around the globe.
Our mission comes from what Jesus said matters most: LOVING GOD. LOVING OTHERS. Matthew 22:37-40 NIV - “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart (all your passion) and with all your soul (your personality, emotional make up) and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor LIKE you LOVE and CARE FOR yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Here’s How This Works…
COMMUNITY.
The church is not a building, the church is you. How we love our Community is through caring with cards, visitations, phone calls/texts, meals, baby showers and so much more. The best way to find community is to be a part of the local church… TRY GENESIS TODAY!
CITY.
Reaching the City means we are working to affect change with the most impact at our size. We have teamed up forces with Hope Florida to help keep children with their parents instead of entering the foster care system. Genesis Church steps in and provides the immediate needs of a family to keep their family unit in tact. That might mean new beds, mattresses, food, clothing, etc. It all comes to us through the Hope Florida Care Portal.
We also work with BoysTown North Florida, hosting their Foster Care events and sponsoring their gifts at Christmastime.
To further impact our city, we respond to local disasters as needed. There is no place like Genesis. We lead by servanthood!
WORLD.
We take care of the world ONE PERSON AT A TIME. That’s how you go into all the world and reach people. You go to their point of need and meet that need. That’s when you are most like Christ, when you empty yourself and take on the role of a servant.
Matthew 20:28 NIV - …the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
We believe in sacrificial love at Genesis Church. We do this in practical ways. We have helped build an orphanage in Burma, Asia. We continually support our missionary there, Jonny Moore, by using all proceeds from our Cafe to reach him or our City Outreach, Hope Florida. So every time you buy our Mission Road coffee, you are doing “Moore” to change the world.
We are currently helping to fund a church-build in Belize, Central America.
Our next step is to help plant churches in Greece with the Church of God Eastern Europe Overseer, Bishop Jivko Jacobs. We will be making plans to fly there soon and be hands on deck in changing the culture for Christ.
