Our Story

GENESISCHURCH.TV began with a small core group of eight people when Pastor Brian and Kristen moved from Cincinnati, OH with a vision to create an exciting and innovative church in Tallahassee.  Our denomination gave us a small building on the eastern edge of the city.  For six months, the core group planned and organized a church committed to reaching unchurched people in a relevant and relational way.  The core planning team grew to almost forty by word of mouth as we prepared for our opening day, Easter Sunday, April 27, 2003.

After months of hard work, diligent prayer and strategic preparation, as well as an extensive marketing campaign, we opened our doors to the public not knowing what to expect, but confident of what God had called us to do in Tallahassee.  Opening day was a great success with more than 220 people attending two services! Even more important was that eight people accepted Christ and set the stage for reaching non-believers!  Our core group immediately grew to more than 150 throughout the summer of 2003, and the church grew in surges during the next two years.

By our third year anniversary, more than 1000 people attended our Easter celebration at Leon High School in downtown Tallahassee.  Coinciding with a three year strategic plan to transition to a portable setup, we determined the need to change our name simultaneously with the relocation in order to secure a more individualized domain name and set us apart as a multimedia driven church.  We felt that GENESISCHURCH.TV fit perfectly because Genesis means beginnings, and Genesis Church is not only a safe place where people can begin, but also begin again with God. In the first four years, more than 600 people have given their lives to Christ.  God has truly helped us deliver on the vision we established from the beginning, and the journey has just begun.
